Shape of Embouchure

The mouthpiece is that part of the bamboo tube, which touches the lips of the performer. Cuts, respectively bevels can be made in various shapes and angles. Concert flutes are made by using the standard bevel, but that  can be changed as desired. Master Flutes are adapted to the jaw position and the blowing technique of the artist.

Here are the three basic types of bevels:

1. Normal bevel -> relatively uniform sharpened on both sides of the tube.

2. Minor Zamfir bevel -> lowered bevel slightly on the lip side.

3. Major Zamfir bevel (for advanced players) -> stronger lowered bevel on the lip side.
